b3f11165aa Centralize yacc interface names remapping (yyparse, yylex, yyerror, etc)
This factors out all the yy-variables remapping to a single file,
instead of each parser having to do the same, with different prefixes.

With this, a parser just needs to define the prefix they want and
include yy-remap.h, which does the dirty job.

Note this renames the c_error, ada_error, etc. functions. Writing the
remapping pattern as:

 #define yyerror GDB_YY_REMAP (error)

instead of:

 #define yyerror GDB_YY_REMAP (yyerror)

would have avoided the renaming. However, that would be problematic
if we have a macro 'foo' in scope, when we write:

 #define yyfoo GDB_YY_REMAP (foo)

as that would expand 'foo'.

The c_yyerror etc. naming end ups indicating that this is a yacc
related function more clearly, so feels like a good change, anyway.

79f338988c [C++] Add casts to obstack_base calls
The recent libiberty import of upstream obstack.h (314dee8ea9) makes
obstack_base return a 'void *', with the consequence that a few places
in gdb need a (char *) cast.

0c801b9663 Convert c_string_type to an enum flags type
c_string_type contains values meant to be OR'ed together (even though
some bits are mutually exclusive), so it makes sense to make it an
enum flags type.

8d297bbf60 Type-safe wrapper for enum flags
This patch fixes C++ build errors like this:

/home/pedro/gdb/mygit/cxx-convertion/src/gdb/linux-tdep.c:1126:35: error: invalid conversion from ‘int’ to ‘filterflags’ [-fpermissive]
       | COREFILTER_HUGETLB_PRIVATE);
                                   ^

This is a case of enums used as bit flags. Unlike "regular" enums,
these values are supposed to be or'ed together. However, in C++, the
type of "(ENUM1 | ENUM2)" is int, and you then can't assign an int to
an enum variable without a cast. That means that this:

  enum foo_flags flags = 0;

  if (...)
    flags |= FOO_FLAG1;
  if (...)
    flags |= FOO_FLAG2;

... would have to be written as:

  enum foo_flags flags = (enum foo_flags) 0;

  if (...)
    flags = (enum foo_flags) (flags | FOO_FLAG1);
  if (...)
    flags = (enum foo_flags) (flags | FOO_FLAG2);

which is ... ugly. Alternatively, we'd have to use an int for the
variable's type, which isn't ideal either.

This patch instead adds an "enum flags" class. "enum flags" are
exactly the enums where the values are bits that are meant to be ORed
together.

This allows writing code like the below, while with raw enums this
would fail to compile without casts to enum type at the assignments to
'f':

  enum some_flag
  {
     flag_val1 = 1 << 1,
     flag_val2 = 1 << 2,
     flag_val3 = 1 << 3,
     flag_val4 = 1 << 4,
  };
  DEF_ENUM_FLAGS_TYPE(enum some_flag, some_flags)

  some_flags f = flag_val1 | flag_val2;
  f |= flag_val3;

It's also possible to assign literal zero to an enum flags variable
(meaning, no flags), dispensing either adding an awkward explicit "no
value" value to the enumeration or the cast to assignments from 0.
For example:

  some_flags f = 0;
  f |= flag_val3 | flag_val4;

Note that literal integers other than zero do fail to compile:

  some_flags f = 1; // error

C is still supported -- DEF_ENUM_FLAGS_TYPE is just a typedef in that
case.

224c3ddb89 Add casts to memory allocation related calls
Most allocation functions (if not all) return a void* pointing to the
allocated memory. In C++, we need to add an explicit cast when
assigning the result to a pointer to another type (which is the case
more often than not).

The content of this patch is taken from Pedro's branch, from commit
"(mostly) auto-generated patch to insert casts needed for C++". I
validated that the changes make sense and manually reflowed the code to
make it respect the coding style. I also found multiple places where I
could use XNEW/XNEWVEC/XRESIZEVEC/etc.

Thanks a lot to whoever did that automated script to insert casts, doing
it completely by hand would have taken a ridiculous amount of time.

Only files built on x86 with --enable-targets=all are modified. This
means that all other -nat.c files are untouched and will have to be
dealt with later by using appropiate compilers. Or maybe we can try to
build them with a regular g++ just to know where to add casts, I don't
know.

I built-tested this with --enable-targets=all and reg-tested.

Here's the changelog entry, which was not too bad to make despite the
size, thanks to David Malcom's script. I fixed some bits by hand, but
there might be some wrong parts left (hopefully not).

63e43d3aed DWARF: handle non-local references in nested functions
GDB's current behavior when dealing with non-local references in the
context of nested fuctions is approximative:

  - code using valops.c:value_of_variable read the first available stack
    frame that holds the corresponding variable (whereas there can be
    multiple candidates for this);

  - code directly relying on read_var_value will instead read non-local
    variables in frames where they are not even defined.

This change adds the necessary context to symbol reads (to get the block
they belong to) and to blocks (the static link property, if any) so that
GDB can make the proper decisions when dealing with non-local varibale
references.

Simon Marchi
aead7601eb Add casts for legitimate integer to enum conversions
This patch is mostly extracted from Pedro's C++ branch. It adds explicit
casts from integer to enum types, where it is really the intention to do
so. This could be because we are ...

 * iterating on enum values (we need to iterate on an equivalent integer)
 * converting from a value read from bytes (dwarf attribute, agent
 expression opcode) to the equivalent enum
 * reading the equivalent integer value from another language (Python/Guile)

An exception to that is the casts in regcache.c. It seems to me like
struct regcache's register_status field could be a pointer to an array of
enum register_status. Doing so would waste a bit of memory (4 bytes
used by the enum vs 1 byte used by the current signed char, for each
register). If we switch to C++11 one day, we can define the underlying
type of an enum type, so we could have the best of both worlds.

d12307c199 Replace the block_found global with explicit data-flow
As Pedro suggested on gdb-patches@ (see
https://sourceware.org/ml/gdb-patches/2015-05/msg00714.html), this
change makes symbol lookup functions return a structure that includes
both the symbol found and the block in which it was found. This makes
it possible to get rid of the block_found global variable and thus makes
block hunting explicit.

f168693bc9 Remove CHECK_TYPEDEF, use check_typedef instead
I think that the CHECK_TYPEDEF macro is not necessary, and even a bit
annoying. It makes unclear the fact that the "type" variables gets
overwritten. It has actually bitten me a few times. I think the
following, explicit form, is better.

  type = check_typedef (type);

This patches changes all instances of CHECK_TYPEDEF for an equivalent
call to check_typedef. The bulk of the change was done with this sed:

  sed -i 's/CHECK_TYPEDEF (\([^)]*\));/\1 = check_typedef (\1);/' <file>.c

The ChangeLog was generated using David Malcom's generate_changelog.py.
I manually fixed those places where it gets the wrong function name,
hopefully all of them.

The patch was built-tested, and I ran a few smoke tests.

fe978cb071 C++ keyword cleanliness, mostly auto-generated
This patch renames symbols that happen to have names which are
reserved keywords in C++.

Most of this was generated with Tromey's cxx-conversion.el script.
Some places where later hand massaged a bit, to fix formatting, etc.
And this was rebased several times meanwhile, along with re-running
the script, so re-running the script from scratch probably does not
result in the exact same output. I don't think that matters anyway.

3977b71f1d constify struct block in some places
This makes some spots in gdb, particularly general_symbol_info, use a
"const struct block", then fixes the fallout.

The justification is that, ordinarily, blocks ought to be readonly.
Note though that we can't add "const" in the blockvector due to block
relocation. This can be done once blocks are made independent of the
program space.

3d567982ac implement support for "enum class"
This adds support for the C++11 "enum class" feature. This is
PR c++/15246.

I chose to use the existing TYPE_DECLARED_CLASS rather than introduce
a new type code. This seemed both simple and clear to me.

I made overloading support for the new enum types strict. This is how
it works in C++; and it didn't seem like an undue burden to keep this,
particularly because enum constants are printed symbolically by gdb.

Built and regtested on x86-64 Fedora 20.

410a0ff2df Remove `expout*' globals from parser-defs.h
This commit removes the "expout*" globals from our parser code, turning
them into a structure that is passed when an expression needs to be
evaluated. This is the initial step to make our parser less
"globalized".

This is mostly a mechanical patch, which creates a structure containing
the "expout*" globals and then modify all the functions that handle them
in order to take the structure as argument. It is big, and has been
reviewed at least 4 times, so I think everything is covered.

3b7344d5ab use bound_minsym as result for lookup_minimal_symbol et al
This patch changes a few minimal symbol lookup functions to return a
bound_minimal_symbol rather than a pointer to the minsym. This change
helps prepare gdb for computing a minimal symbol's address at the
point of use.

Note that this changes even those functions that ostensibly search a
single objfile. That was necessary because, in fact, those functions
can search an objfile and its separate debug objfiles; and it is
important for the caller to know in which objfile the minimal symbol
was actually found.

The bulk of this patch is mechanical.

12c5175d68 Avoid bison-isms when using yacc.
YYPRINT is a bison-ism so c_print_token() ends up being unused when yacc is
used which makes gcc unhappy. Make sure we only define YYPRINT and
c_print_token() when bison is used to generate the parser.

gdb/ChangeLog:

805e1f1908 fix PR c++/16117
This patch fixes PR c++/16117.

gdb has an extension so that users can use expressions like FILE::NAME
to choose a variable of the given name from the given file. The bug
is that this extension takes precedence over ordinary C++ expressions
of the same form. You might think this is merely hypothetical, but
now that C++ headers commonly do not use an extension, it is more
common.

This patch fixes the bug by making two related changes. First, it
changes gdb to prefer the ordinary C++ meaning of a symbol over the
extended meaning. Second, it arranges for single-quoting of the
symbol to indicate a preference for the extension.

Built and regtested on x86-64 Fedora 18.
New test case included.

2013-11-15  Tom Tromey  <tromey@redhat.com>

	PR c++/16117:
	* c-exp.y (lex_one_token): Add "is_quoted_name" argument.
	(classify_name): Likewise. Prefer a field of "this" over a
	filename.
	(classify_inner_name, yylex): Update.

2013-11-15  Tom Tromey  <tromey@redhat.com>

	* gdb.texinfo (Variables): Note gdb rules for ambiguous cases.
	Add example.

2013-11-15  Tom Tromey  <tromey@redhat.com>

	* gdb.cp/includefile: New file.
	* gdb.cp/filename.exp: New file.
	* gdb.cp/filename.cc: New file.

7c7b66552d remove msymbol_objfile
This is another patch in my ongoing series to "split" objfile to share
more read-only data across inferiors. See

    http://sourceware.org/gdb/wiki/ObjfileSplitting

When symbols are finally shared, there will be no back-link from the
symbol to its containing objfile, because there may be more than one
such objfile. So, all such back-links must be removed.

One hidden back-link is the msymbol_objfile function. Since
(eventually) a symbol may appear in more than one objfile, trying to
look up the objfile given just a symbol cannot work.

This patch removes msymbol_objfile in favor of using a bound minimal
symbol. It introduces a new function to make this conversion simpler
in some spots.

The bonus of this patch is that using msymbol_objfile is slower than
simply looking up the owning objfile in the first place.

Built and regtested on x86-64 Fedora 18.

	* ada-exp.y (write_var_or_type): Use bound_minimal_symbol.
	* ada-lang.c (ada_lookup_simple_minsym): Return

  1. The addition of 2013 to the copyright year range for every file;
  2. The use of a single year range, instead of potentially multiple
     year ranges, as approved by the FSF.
